Ladle Lip
Fibre reinforced castable gives excellent long term protection to the ladle's steelwork 'reducing the frequency of costly repairs. Coupled with improved lip refractory performance, security and wear linings are held tighter for longer hence overall campaign life is raised and maintenance costs per tonne significantly reduced.
Recommendation: ME 446
Security Lining
Thermal expansion, mechanical shock and general ladle movement can crack and distort the ladle's security and working linings. The ability of fibre addition to strengthen the lining and inhibit cracking considerably reduces the potential danger of hot metal run through.
Recommendation: ME 446
Impact Pad
Repeated thermal shock during the impact pad's working life quickly reduces its performance. But at 3-4% by weight, fibres can improve performance by 100% or more and reduce downtime, material and installation costs by at least half.
Recommendation: ME 446
Pouring Spout
Repeated teeming results in cracked and spalled refractory, thereby reducing the lip's campaign life. A fibre reinforced castable is much tougher than a conventional castable, providing savings of up to 300% in material, labour and downtime costs.
